Valas marble tiles, antique finish. For the outdoor thickness see Valas marble pavers and tiles.
The Stone
Valas is a pale marble, cream to light beige, with fine veining rather than the bold movement of a statuario or a Carrara. It is a quiet stone. On a large floor it reads almost as a solid tone from standing height and only shows its veining up close, which is why it works in rooms where the floor is not meant to be the feature.
The antique finish gives a soft matte face with tumbled edges. Against white walls it warms a room slightly; against cream walls it can disappear entirely, so check a sample against your actual wall colour rather than a swatch.
Where It Suits
Interior floors, bathrooms, and feature walls. Pale marble reflects light well, which makes it a reasonable choice for a room that does not get much of it. In a kitchen the etching question applies as it does to any marble: acids will dull the surface, and while the matte antique finish disguises that better than a polish would, it does not stop it happening.
Practical Notes
Seal before grouting. Pale marble is unforgiving of grout haze, and on a cream stone a grey grout residue is very visible. Use a light grout colour and a penetrating sealer, and grout in small sections so you can sponge off before it sets.
The full marble range covers the grey and darker tones. Matching treads are available. We import direct, dispatch from Melbourne, and freight Australia wide. Samples are free.
