A Beige Limestone Floor
Tuscan Beige is a warm sandy limestone, lighter and flatter in tone than travertine, without travertine’s open pores or banding. That evenness is the point. Where travertine gives you texture and movement, a beige limestone gives you a calm continuous surface, which suits large open-plan floors and rooms where the furniture is meant to be the thing you notice.
It sits well with oak, rattan and linen, and against white walls it warms a room without pushing it yellow. Under cool artificial light it can read greyer than expected, so if the room is lit with 5000K downlights, check a sample under that light rather than at a window.
Limestone Indoors: the Honest Version
Limestone is softer than granite and more porous than marble. In practice that means two things. It will pick up scratches from grit tracked in on shoes, so a doormat at every external door genuinely extends the life of the floor. And it will absorb a spill if left, so it needs sealing properly at installation and re-sealing every few years.
In return you get a stone that stays cool underfoot, has no pattern to fight with, and ages into a softer surface rather than looking worn out. Plenty of people prefer a limestone floor at ten years to a new one.
Installation
Seal before grouting, without exception on a pale limestone. Use a light grout. Cut with a wet saw; limestone cuts easily and cleanly, which makes it a friendlier stone than granite for a DIY installer.
