Is the Gold Colour Natural?
It is. We get asked this often enough that it is worth answering here. Sunrise Gold is quarried sandstone and the honey and amber banding through it is iron oxide laid down in the sediment. Nothing is dyed, stained or coated. The colour will not fade or wash out, and because it comes from the stone itself, the tone varies piece to piece across a crate. That variation is the look. If you want a single uniform gold, a natural stone is the wrong material.
The Split Face Indoors
A natural split face has more texture than a honed or sawn tile. Indoors that suits entries, verandah floors and rustic interiors more than it suits a kitchen, where a heavily textured floor is harder to mop. It is worth handling a sample before committing to a large interior area, since split-face texture reads much stronger underfoot than it does in a photograph.
Sandstone is porous and should be sealed before grouting. Skip that step on a gold-toned stone and the grout will leave a grey cast in the surface that is permanent.
Matching the Range
Sunrise Gold also comes as bullnose pool copings and appears through the sandstone range. If gold is too warm for the project, Himalayan White is the pale alternative in the same split finish.
