Midnight Glow is a dark charcoal limestone, supplied as 600x400mm in 15mm tiles and 30mm pavers with a tumbled and antique finish. The tone is close to black in shade and lifts to a deep grey in direct sun, with faint lighter veining through some pieces.
It Does Not Glow in the Dark
Worth saying plainly, because a fair number of people arrive here after searching for glow in the dark pavers. Midnight Glow is named for its colour, not for any luminescence. It is a natural quarried limestone with no photoluminescent additive, and it will not light up at night. Products that do glow are resin or concrete composites with strontium aluminate in them, and we do not sell those. If that is what you are after, this is not it.
Where a Dark Paver Works
Charcoal paving does a specific job. It frames lawn and pale render sharply, it hides oil marks and leaf staining that show badly on light stone, and it makes a pool look deeper than a pale surround does. The 30mm pavers go on driveways, paths, pool surrounds and garden borders.
The trade-off is heat. Dark stone absorbs it, and in full Australian summer sun a charcoal pool surround will be uncomfortable barefoot. Plenty of customers use Midnight Glow as a border or a feature band with a pale stone in the main field, which keeps the contrast and loses the problem. If the whole area gets sun and bare feet, a limestone like Indiana White will be a better choice.
Sizes and Base
Both formats are 600x400mm. Crates are 26.88sqm in 15mm and 13.92sqm in 30mm. The 30mm paver lays on a compacted base or a concrete slab depending on the traffic; anything with vehicles on it wants a slab. The 15mm tile is the indoor format and is listed separately as Midnight Glow tiles.
Limestone takes a sealer well, and on a dark stone a sealer also deepens the colour, which most people prefer. Seal before grouting to keep grout haze off the face.
