What the Mica Actually Does
Photographs undersell this stone, because the mica only works in changing light. Flat on a screen it is a brown wall. In person, walk past it and the surface glimmers; light a fire near it in the evening and the flecks pick up the flames. That is why Rustic Mica ends up around fireplaces, fire pits and alfresco walls that get afternoon sun more than anywhere else. The Warm Middle of the Range
Of our three ledgestones, Rustic Mica is the warm one that is not shouting. Tiger Skin stripes gold and black and dominates a space; Alpine Blue runs cool grey. Rustic Mica sits between, warm enough for timber and brick, quiet enough to clad a whole outdoor room without wearing out its welcome.
Fixing and Quantities
The 600x200mm strips course horizontally with tight joints over any solid substrate: rendered blockwork, concrete, or fibre cement on frame. Use a flexible cement-based adhesive, add mechanical fixing above roughly a metre outside, and expect 17.28sqm of walling per crate.
External corners take dedicated corner pieces, and these are sold by the linear metre rather than the square metre. Measure each corner’s height, total the metres, and order corners with the flats; running out of corners mid-job stalls the whole wall.
