Ivory Light travertine, unfilled and tumbled, in 12mm tiles and 30mm pavers. Sizes are 406×406, 610×406 and 610x610mm, with French Pattern sets in both thicknesses. Ivory is the palest travertine we stock, a soft cream with very little of the brown movement that runs through the Classic and Walnut tones.

Ivory Against the Other Travertines

The three tones people usually compare are Ivory, Classic and Silver. Ivory is the warmest of the pale options, cream rather than grey, and it flatters warm-toned brick, timber and render. Classic is a mid beige with heavier banding and more visible character. Silver runs cool grey and suits contemporary builds with dark joinery.

If you are undecided, order all three samples. They cost nothing and travertine is a stone where the difference between tones is obvious in hand and almost invisible on a screen.

Unfilled and Tumbled

Unfilled means the natural pores in the stone are left open rather than resin-filled at the factory. Outdoors that texture drains and grips, which is why unfilled travertine is the standard Australian pool surround. Grout takes up some of the pores at installation and the remainder stays as surface character.

Indoors, most installers grout-fill the face flush so the floor sweeps and mops cleanly. Either way, seal travertine before grouting. Unsealed, the grout will leave a haze in the pores that is very difficult to remove afterwards.

Tiles Inside, Pavers Outside

The 12mm tile is the interior floor format. The 30mm paver handles outdoor traffic and thermal movement, and is what you want for a patio, path or pool surround. Both come from the same block, so an indoor floor can run straight out through a sliding door with only the thickness changing at the sill.

Pale travertine also stays notably cooler underfoot than granite or dark limestone, which is the practical argument for Ivory around a pool in a hot climate.
