Ivory Light travertine pavers, unfilled and tumbled, 30mm thick in 406×406, 610×406 and 610x610mm, plus French Pattern sets. This is the outdoor format. The 12mm interior tile is listed as Ivory Light travertine tiles.

Why 30mm Outside

Thickness is not about strength alone. A 30mm paver has the mass to sit stable on a bedded base, it survives the thermal movement an outdoor surface goes through between a summer afternoon and a winter night, and it takes a knock from garden furniture or a dropped tool without cracking. A 12mm tile bonded to a slab will do a covered balcony, but it is not a patio paver and should not be sold as one.

Pavers can be laid on a compacted base with a bedding course for foot traffic, or bonded to a concrete slab. Around a pool, most installers bond to the slab.

Ivory Around a Pool

Pale travertine is the standard Australian pool surround for a reason that has nothing to do with looks: it stays cool. On a 38 degree afternoon the difference between ivory travertine and a dark granite underfoot is the difference between walking normally and hopping to the shade. Ivory is the palest travertine we carry, so it is the coolest of them.

The unfilled tumbled surface adds the second reason. Open pores drain and grip, so the surround stays safe wet. Matching bullnose copings in the same stone finish the pool edge.

Sealing and Upkeep

Seal before grouting. Unsealed travertine takes grout into its pores and the haze does not come out. After that, an outdoor travertine surround wants re-sealing every few years, more often if it is under trees.

Some pore filling with grout at installation is normal and expected. Over years, a few more pores open up as the surface weathers. Most people read that as the stone settling in rather than as a fault, but if you want a surface that stays exactly as delivered, a granite would be the better choice.

Tones and Supply

If Ivory reads too pale, Classic is the mid beige and Silver the cool grey. Order all three samples; they are free and travertine tones do not photograph honestly.

We import direct into Keysborough, Melbourne, with crate rates for trade quantities and freight quoted per order Australia wide. The full range is on the travertine page and pool pavers.
