Laverton free form walling, natural split, in pieces 150 to 300mm. Sold as loose walling by the square metre, with corner pieces by the linear metre. The palette is warm: pale yellows and muted orange through to soft grey.
Which Free Form Stone to Choose
We stock several free form wallings and they are not interchangeable. The choice comes down to colour temperature, because the format and the installation are much the same across all of them.
Laverton is the warmest of the three. Yellows and soft oranges dominate, and a Laverton wall reads sunlit even on an overcast day. Manethi is the earthy one, browns and greys with a lilac cast, better suited to shaded and woodland gardens. Geneva sits coolest, greys with pale yellow through them, and it is the one that suits contemporary render and dark joinery.
Order samples of all three if you are undecided. Stone with this much colour variation is genuinely hard to judge from a photograph, and the three look far more different in hand than they do on a screen.
Where Warm Stone Works
Laverton suits north-facing courtyards, pool walls that catch afternoon light, entry pillars and garden retaining faces. Against green planting the yellows lift; against grey render they can look slightly out of place, which is worth checking before ordering a full wall.
Inside, it is a regular pick for fireplace surrounds, where the warm tones work with the fire rather than against it.
Installing Free Form
Free form is not a panel system. Pieces arrive in mixed sizes and the installer fits them together like drystone work, so the finished wall depends partly on how carefully the stone is sorted and placed. Dry-lay a couple of square metres on the ground and sort by size before bonding anything.
Fix to a solid load-bearing substrate, rendered blockwork, concrete or fibre cement over frame, using a flexible cement-based adhesive. Above roughly a metre on an external wall, add mechanical fixing.
Coverage is 15sqm per crate for loose walling and 25 linear metres for corners. Measure external corners in linear metres and order them alongside the flats.
