The Light One
Ranked by colour, our five free form wallings run from Calista at the pale end through Basra (beige) and Laverton (warm yellows), to Manethi (earthy browns) and Geneva (cool grey). Calista is the one for brightening: shaded courtyards, south-facing walls, small gardens that dark stone would shrink. An ivory wall bounces light the way a rendered white wall does, but with texture that render cannot give.
Pale stone shows marks more than beige or grey, worth saying plainly. Under a pergola or on an indoor fireplace that is no issue; behind a garden bed that gets sprinkler overspray and soil splash, Basra will stay looking cleaner for longer.
Cladding Faces, Not Wall Tops
Calista comes as flats and corners only; there is no matching capping. Clad house walls, retaining faces, fireplace surrounds and outdoor kitchen bases with it freely. For a freestanding wall, planter or pillar that needs a finished top course, Geneva is the free form stone supplied with capping, and it is the right tool for that job.
Fitting It
Free form is fitted piece by piece, drystone fashion, from mixed 150 to 300mm stones; the finished wall reflects the sorting and placing, so dry-lay a couple of square metres first. Bond to solid substrate with flexible cement-based adhesive, mechanically fix above about a metre externally. Loose walling covers 15sqm per crate, corners 25 linear metres. Corners are sold and measured by the lineal metre; total the height of every external corner and order that alongside the flats.
