Classic travertine cobblestones in 100x100x30mm and 203x100x30mm. Same warm beige stone as our Classic travertine pavers, cut down to sett size with tumbled edges, so the pieces have the slightly worn look cobbles are supposed to have rather than sharp factory arrises.
Travertine cobbles get used differently to granite ones. Granite setts go in for hard-wearing driveways; travertine cobbles are usually a detail. Borders around a paved area, a band across a driveway apron, edging along garden beds, or the infill strip between a path and a lawn. The warm tone ties into travertine paving that is already down, which is the usual reason people buy them.
Laying and Base
At 30mm these go on a concrete base with adhesive. Travertine is softer than granite, so on a driveway it is better used as a decorative band with granite or concrete carrying the wheel paths, rather than as the full surface under daily vehicle traffic. On paths, courtyards and pool edges the softness is not an issue.
Crates are 16.35sqm. Allow around 10 percent extra for cuts. Sealing is worth doing on travertine cobbles because the joints are frequent and a sealer keeps grout haze and staining down.
