Where a Plain Grey 90mm Cobble Earns Its Place
Ash Grey is the quiet one. Where Silver Grey flickers black and white up close, Ash Grey stays flat and uniform, which is exactly what you want when the cobbles are a border rather than the main event. Driveway edges, path trims, aprons in front of garages, strips between lawn and paving, surrounds for letterboxes and tree pits. Small unit, even colour, no visual competition with the paving it frames.
It lays as a full surface too, and at 90x90mm it takes curves well; small units follow a radius with tight joints where big pavers need cutting.
Mats, and What That Means On Site
The setts arrive mesh-mounted in brick bond, a square metre going down at a time with spacing already set. Hand-laying 90mm setts individually is slow, fiddly work, so mats are the difference between a weekend job and a week. If your design needs loose setts for fans or circles, Silver Grey and Raven Black come loose; the 90mm formats do not.
Thickness and Base
20mm for paths, borders and courtyards bonded to concrete; 30mm on a reinforced slab wherever vehicles cross. Coverage is 22.71sqm per crate at 20mm and 15.14sqm at 30mm. Like all small cobbles, joints are a bigger share of the surface, so pick your grout colour deliberately; on Ash Grey a matching mid-grey grout keeps the border reading as one band.
