Travertine is a layered limestone formed by mineral springs, and the layers are the whole point: the surface carries fine natural pores that drain water on contact and grip wet feet, while the tone stays warm and pale so it never burns bare soles in summer. That combination is physics, not fashion, and it is why travertine remains Australia’s default pool and terrace stone decades into the trend.
Classic Light, the Hero of the Range
Classic Light is our flagship travertine: soft ivory-beige, tumbled and unfilled, the tone people mean when they picture travertine. It runs through the full set of formats, pavers, French Pattern, pool copings and treads, so an entire outdoor build can carry one stone. The cooler alternative is Silver travertine, grey with soft banding for contemporary schemes; Ivory sits palest.
Filled or Unfilled, Honed or Tumbled
Unfilled travertine keeps its pores open: maximum grip and drainage, the pool-deck spec. Filled travertine has the pores factory-filled for a smoother face that suits interiors and covered terraces. Honed means flat and matt; tumbled means softened edges and a worn, antique face. If in doubt outdoors, tumbled unfilled is the forgiving choice; indoors, honed filled. Grout partially fills open pores at laying, which is normal and part of the look.

Treated this way, travertine wears in like leather rather than wearing out, and chips or repairs blend invisibly because the colour runs full-depth.
