Choosing a Grey Paver
Grey is not one colour. Silver grey granite reads bright and speckled; bluestone runs deep with a blue cast; grey limestone sits soft and even; silver travertine bands warm and cool together. The right grey depends on what it sits against. Against white render, mid greys look deliberate where pale greys wash out. Against timber, cooler greys give the best contrast.
For driveways the hardest-wearing greys are granite and bluestone. For pool surrounds, textured finishes matter more than shade; anti-slip marble and exfoliated granite both hold wet feet well.
Grey in Australian Light
Australian sun is hard on colour, and grey handles it better than anything: it does not fade visibly, it hides dust between washes, and mid grey stays cooler underfoot than charcoal or black. That combination is why grey pavers outsell every other colour year after year. If you are torn between two greys, take the lighter one for open sun and the darker one for shaded or covered areas, where pale stone can look washed out.
